Start here. Five minutes.
This is the whole setup. Do it once, today, and the kit runs from there.
Pick your version
The kit comes two ways and the pages are identical. Print it if you think better on paper and want it somewhere you will actually see it. Use the fillable PDF if you would rather type and keep it on your laptop.
You can switch later. Plenty of people print the weekly page and type the daily one.
Empty your head onto the capture page
Write down everything currently taking up space in your head. The appointment, the email you keep meaning to send, the birthday, the form, the thing you have been dreading. If it is in your head, it goes on the page.
No order. No categories. No deciding what matters. Sorting comes next and it is far easier once your head is empty.
Most people fill more than one page the first time. That is not a bad sign. That is the volume you have been carrying without a place to put it.
Choose three for tomorrow
Look at what you wrote and move three things onto tomorrow's daily page.
Three is a ceiling, not a target. One counts. Everything you did not choose stays on the capture page, where it is neither lost nor late. It is waiting.
On the days you have nothing
Use the low-energy line. One small thing is a complete day.
Nothing here tracks streaks, so there is nothing to break. Coming back after three days off works exactly the same as coming back after one.
At the end of the week
Ten minutes with the weekly page. Go down your capture list and make one decision for each item. It moves to next week, it waits, or you let it go.
Letting something go is a choice you make on purpose, and the page gives you somewhere to write it down. Later, when you wonder whether you dropped it, you will be able to see that you decided.
If something is broken, unclear, or does not fit how you actually live, write to andrea@thedeliberateos.com. I read every message myself.
In a couple of weeks I will want to know whether this held up. There are three short questions on the last page of your kit.
